New Educator Series in action!
Over the last couple of days, our new educators have been diving into what it means to be truly student-centered—building relationships, creating relevant and engaging learning, giving students voice and choice, and using data to better meet student needs.
They’ve also tackled the real-life “things I wish someone told me” topics—from IEPs and classroom management to grading, parent conferences, and everything in between!
Most importantly, we’re learning, reflecting, and growing together while remembering:
Don’t let perfect stall progress!
We’re so proud of our newest educators and the commitment they’re making to their students!

DIISD Provides MAASE Paraeducator Bootcamp for Local Schools

The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District (DIISD) recently hosted a MAASE Paraeducator Bootcamp for paraeducators from Norway-Vulcan Area Schools and Breitung Township Schools. The training was facilitated by Jayci McInnis, Special Education Supervisor, and Angel Inglese, General Education Director, from the DIISD.

Held at the Bay West campus, the bootcamp provided paraeducators with professional learning designed to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and confidence in supporting students in their school settings.

This training marks the first Paraeducator Bootcamp offering for the 2026–27 school year. DIISD will continue providing the training throughout the school year, with upcoming sessions planned for paraeducators from North Dickinson County School, Forest Park School, West Iron County School District, and the DIISD.

The MAASE Paraeducator Bootcamp is being offered through funding from the Grow Your Own Grant, which supports efforts to develop and strengthen the local education workforce. Providing professional learning opportunities for paraeducators is one way the DIISD is investing in the individuals who play an important role in supporting students and schools across the region.

Through ongoing professional learning opportunities such as the MAASE Paraeducator Bootcamp, the DIISD is committed to supporting paraeducators and providing them with practical tools and strategies they can use in their daily work with students. These opportunities also strengthen collaboration and shared learning among districts throughout Dickinson and Iron counties.
