Michigan's Early Literacy Professional Learning Grant

In 2015, Michigan created the Early Literacy Task Force to help combat the literacy crisis taking place with our youngest Michiganders. In October 2016, Michigan Legislators developed policy to support the literacy efforts. That policy is known as The Third Grade Reading Law. To help support schools, teachers and students, funding was allotted to each of the 56 ISDs in Michigan to hire Early Literacy Coaches to work with schools and K-3 teachers to improve reading scores in Michigan and ensure all students are reading at grade level by the end of third grade.
