Electrical & Mechanical Systems in Industry  I, II, III – Blocks 1, 2 & 3
Prerequisite:  None
Have you ever wondered how a stoplight knows when to turn yellow or red?  Why does that system of pulleys work so well to lift heavy objects?  How are all those processes in a manufacturing plant controlled?  How to make a robot pick up an object? If so, mechatronics might be for you. Mechatronics is a field that focuses on combining the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical engineering. This is an emerging and sought after field with great opportunities to be had.
In this class you will use electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic trainers used to teach skills in industry and at the top engineering universities. You will learn wiring, mounting motors, setting up hydraulic circuits, and so much more. We tour leading area businesses where you will see in action the systems that you are learning about in class. We have cultivated relationships with major industrial businesses with hundreds of employees to local businesses with maybe only a few to bring you the most up to date knowledge of what the industry is looking for.
The information you learn in this class will prepare you for direct entry-level careers, apprenticeship programs, pursuing one and two year certificate/degree programs, and for four year engineering degrees.
Dual enrollment credit available.
