Child Safety
An Authorized Adult Must Be Visible At The Time Of Pick-up And Drop-off.
The transporter MUST observe the presence of a parent or a responsible person designated by a parent before your child will be picked up. This responsible person must walk the child to the bus.
When delivering a child after school, the transporter must see a parent or responsible person designated and named on the Emergency Sheet by the parent. This responsible person must walk to the bus to receive the child.
If an authorized adult is not at the drop-off point and you have not called the center, the child will be returned to the office/center and you will be responsible for picking up your child. If an authorized adult is to pick-up a child from the office/center and the child is not picked up at dismissal time and you have not called the center, the child will be held at the center. You will then be responsible for picking up the child. If a child has not been picked up by the time the office/center closes, we will contact the Family Independence Agency or local police department for further follow up.
We Do Realize That Emergencies Will Occur. If That Happens, Please Call Your Local Center Or The Main Office (906) 779-2695, Before Class Ends For The Day!
Child Release
Your child will be released from the center to the persons listed on your emergency sheet ONLY! If a person other than those listed is to pick up your child or meet the bus, you MUST call the main office at (906) 779-2695 and give the adult's name and relationship to your child before the child can be released to him/her.
Attendance Policy
All children should attend on a regular basis or they will be deprived of his/her opportunities to learn and develop socially, physically, and emotionally. Attendance is taken daily by the teachers who must record the reason for absence. Please cooperate by calling your child's teacher as soon as you know your child will be absent. After two days of unexcused absences (no contact by parents to teacher), a phone call will be made to you by your child's teacher or family service worker. If your child has missed four days without an excuse, your family service worker will make a home visit to determine the reason, refer your family for support services if needed, and discuss further attendance. When chronic absenteeism persists and it does not seem feasible to include the child in either the same or a different program option, the child's slot must be considered an enrollment vacancy.
If You Are Dropping Off Or Picking Up Your Child
If you bring your child to the center you must let the teacher know you have brought your child and sign in. You must then walk your child to the room. Please do not bring your child to the classroom earlier than 5 minutes before class starts, as this is time for teachers to prepare.
If you pick up your child at school you must let the teacher know and you must sign your child out on the sign out form. Please be on time to pick up your child, because the teachers have many responsibilities after the children leave.
About The School Bus
Driving the bus takes a great deal of concentration and responsibility. All children must stay buckled in their seats and must maintain appropriate behavior. A parent-teacher conference will be called for any child who is continuously disruptive on the bus.
Children will always be returned to their regular drop-off points where an authorized adult meets the child at the bus. You must call the office/center if a change is necessary. Children will not be dropped of at "grandma's" or elsewhere simply on their word.
Please try to keep snow and slush cleaned in a path so that your child can walk safely to and from the bus. If the bus driver considers your private drive to be unsafe, the bus will stop at the road and you will need to walk your child to the bus or the bus will go on.
