Message from the Superintendent...
WELCOME BACK to the staff and families of Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District (ISD). The 2012-2013 school year marks the 50th anniversary of ISDs.  I have been fortunate enough to have worked for the Dickinson-Iron ISD for over 26 years and have seen firsthand the growth and development of our ISD. We have a top-notch staff that truly exemplifies a caring and committed approach to education.
In honor of 50 years of the establishment of ISDs, An important component of ISDs is to lead, innovate and get results. The State of Michigan, including students, parents, local districts and educators, rely on ISDs to accomplish the work of public education. ISDs are driven by research and data and are change agents.
ISDs save money and resources for multiple K-12 districts and help build a better Michigan by doing the following:
1. Consolidated support services.
2. ISDs train teachers in the latest research-based methods.
3. ISDs pilot innovative programs that districts couldn’t afford on their own.
4. ISDs coordinate special education, career and technical education services, as well as early childhood education across their region.
5. ISDs work with local school districts and the Michigan Department of Education.
6. ISDs support student achievement and leverage limited resources in seven areas mandated by federal and/or state law:
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Specialized Student Services
  • Early Childhood/Great Start
  • Administrative Services
  • Developing Partnerships
  • Technology Services
  • Customized Services
The programs and services of the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District through our departments of Career and Technical Education, Early Childhood Education and Special Education offer programs for children from Birth through young Adulthood. The General Services area offers extensive professional development for educators in all roles and capacities and in all content areas. Additionally, many collaborative support services are offered for non-instructional areas of school operation such as business services, pupil accounting and technology.

The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District staff work in close partnership with all of our local school districts, the community and families to maximize a variety of resources in order to achieve opportunities for optimum educational experiences for all students. To be of service is our mission, our motto, “Your Partner in Education” stands for our commitment to meaningful service.  The ISD is bursting with the many exciting educational opportunities presented every day in all of our classrooms and programs within the school district

We are proud of what we offer here through the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District and strive to improve our services. Please visit the other departments of the D.I.I.S.D. on our website to find out more about the variety of programs and services we provide to students and school districts in Dickinson and Iron Counties. I encourage you to fully embrace the moment and urge you to take the time from your busy schedule to become familiar with our school.
