One of the functions of the Intermediate School District (ISD) is to provide programs for students with very special needs. These classrooms are located in local district buildings so that students can be included with their peers as much as possible. Since many of our students do not attend school in their local district, we also provide transportation.

The ISD operates 4 classrooms for Moderately Cognitively Impaired (CI):
These classrooms are located in local district buildings to provide an environment of inclusion.

North Elementary Building
Norway/Vulcan High School
Forest Park in Iron County
Northpointe Classroom for post high school through age 26.

4 Early Childhood Developmental Delay (ECDD) classrooms for pre-school children:
Willis Center
Bates Elementary in Iron County

There is a combination classroom in North Dickinson for Hearing Impaired and CI students grades K-12.

The Life Skills Classroom at Cowboy Lake involves students from local districts who need hands-on life skills instruction. The house is provided by Wisconsin Electric and we contract with TRICO for the program coordinator. This program is intended for middle school age students, they are transported to the program on the local district's vocational buses.

Adaptive Physical Education
Social Work
Consultants for Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired, and Autistic Students Evaluation Teams that include Psychologists, Social Workers and Educational Diagnosticians
