What is Great Parents Great Start? 

Great Parents Great Start is a grant through the Michigan Department of Education (GPGS). The GPGS grant is available to all families of children from birth to age 5. GPGS provides parent education materials to daycares and parents of newborns. Access to parent education libraries, parenting classes, home visits and mental health counseling is also available to families.   www.greatstart4kids.org

 

 What is Early On?

Early On Michigan is a system designed to coordinate early intervention and other services for families who have children (ages 0-36 months) experiencing developmental delays or who have disabilities or special needs. www.1-800Earlyon.org
 
 

 What is Head Start?

Head Start is a federally funded program, locally designed and implemented, providing quality early childhood education to children and their families. The program is comprehensive and involves the family in the total development of the child. Families with children age 3 to 5 are encouraged to apply at anytime throughout the year. Families whose children have documented disabilities are also encouraged to apply.   Please call: (906) 779-2695 or visit: www.diisd.org
 
 

 What is Michigan School Readiness?

Michigan School Readiness Program is a state funded program for comprehensive early childhood education. Families with children 4 years old by December 1st are encouraged to apply with the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Early Childhood Department. Families whose children have documented disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
