Guidelines for number of days, children should be kept out of school with the following Communicable Diseases:

1) Cold - Keep your child home until coughing, runny nose or fever has subsided.
DO NOT send your child to school for 24 hrs. after symptoms have subsided!

2) Vomiting/Diarrhea - Your child is to be kept at home for 24 hrs. after either or both has stopped.

3) Impetigo - Pimple filled with fluid , usually around nose and mouth area; will ooze and spread to other areas. Highly contagious - Must be seen by Physician and treated with prescription ointment. Lesions must be dry before child returns to school.

4) Strep Throat - Sore throat with fever, white patches in throat area, swollen glands. Keep your child home 24 hours after your child has been on medication from physician.

5) Scarlet Fever - Keep your child home for seven (7) days after rash appears. People in contact with a person with scarlet fever who receive medication, must stay out of school for 24 hrs. after receiving medication.

6) Chicken Pox - Contagious two (2) days before rash appears, and five (5) days after. Your child can return to school after all scabs are dry.

7) Pink Eye - Extremely contagious - (eye is red, irritated, crusted, and light bothers them). Your child must be seen by physician and can return to school when eye is clear, or two or three days after medication is started.

8) Scabies (Mites) - Under the skin (body lice). Your child must be seen by a physician and must bring to school a statement from the physician as to when the child can return.

9) Thrush - Yeast Infection, must be seen by physician.

If your child is sick and needs to be kept at home, please call your child's bus driver and the center to let us know.

If your child needs medication while at the center, you must complete a medication form and provide us with your doctor's written orders. This means a prescription medicine must be in the original container with the label intact. A non-prescription medication can be given only if your doctor will provide us with written instructions. The medication forms you must complete are available by calling the center. No medications will be given without a signed medication form and your doctor's orders!!
