AN AUTHORIZED ADULT
MUST BE VISIBLE AT THE TIME OF PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF.
The transporter MUST observe the presence of a parent or a responsible
person designated by a parent before your child will be picked up. This
responsible person must be listed on your child's Emergency Card.
When delivering
a child after school, the transporter must see a parent or responsible
person designated and named on the Emergency Card by the parent.
If an authorized
adult is not at the drop-off point and you have not called the center,
the child will be returned to the center and you will be responsible
for picking up your child. If an authorized adult is to pick-up a child
from the center and the child is not picked up at dismissal time and
you have not called the center, the child will be held at the center.
You will then be responsible for picking up the child. If a child has
not been picked up by the time the center closes, we will contact the
Family Independence Agency for further follow up.
WE DO REALIZE THAT
EMERGENCIES WILL OCCUR. IF THAT HAPPENS, PLEASE CALL YOUR LOCAL CENTER
OR THE MAIN CENTER BEFORE CLASS ENDS FOR THE DAY!
CHILD RELEASE
Your child
will be released from the center to the persons listed on your emergency
sheet ONLY! If a person other than those listed is to pick up your child
or meet the bus, you MUST call or send a note with the adult's name
and relationship to your child before the child can be released to him/her.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Your child
should attend on a regular basis or you will be depriving him/her of
opportunities to learn and develop socially, physically, and emotionally.
Attendance
is taken daily by the teachers who must record the reason for absence.
Please cooperate by calling your child's teacher or the main center
as soon as you know your child will be absent. Also, call your child's
bus driver or teacher when your child will be returning to school or
he/she will not be picked up.
After two
days of unexcused absences (no contact by you to us), a phone call will
be made to you by your child's teacher. If your child has missed four
days without an excuse, your child's teacher will make a home visit
to determine the reason, refer your family for support services if needed,
and discuss further attendance.
IF YOU ARE DROPPING OFF OR PICKING UP YOUR CHILD
If you bring
your child to the center you must let the teacher know you have brought
your child. You must walk your child to the room. Please do not bring
your child to the classroom earlier than 5 minutes before class starts,
as this is time for teachers to prepare.
If you pick up your
child at school you must let the teacher know you are picking him/her
up. Please be on time to pick up your child, because the teachers have
many responsibilities after the children leave.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
BUS
Driving the
bus takes a great deal of concentration and responsibility. All children
must stay buckled in their seats and must maintain appropriate behavior.
A parent-teacher conference will be called for any child who is continuously
disruptive on the bus.
Children will always
be returned to their regular drop-off points where an authorized adult
is present and visible to the bus driver. You must call the center if
a change is necessary. Children will not be dropped of at "grandma's"
or elsewhere simply on their word.
Please try to keep
snow and slush cleaned in a path so that your child can walk safely
to and from the bus. If the bus driver considers your private drive
to be unsafe, the bus will stop at the road and you will need to walk
your child to the bus or the bus will go on.
